Allmax Creatine Monohydrate Supplement Review

Now creatine monohydrate can be had for a relatively low price.  What sets the Allmax version apart from many of the other brands is the source of the creatine (Creapure) and the price which is sells for.  It can be purchased for $20 for 1kg (from bodybuilding.com), while other brands do use creapure as well, they can’t even come close in price.  So pretty much you’re paying the price you’d pay for regular mono but getting creapure instead.

Supplementsource.ca Review

Supplementsource.ca is an online Canadian supplement store.  For the most part, it is just like any other online supp store out there.  Spend $99+ and you get free shipping.  Shipping is same/next day shipping.  Selection & pricing is again in line with other online retailers but possibly few bucks cheaper.

Stronglifts 5x5 Progress - Week 7

Week 7

Weight: 161-162lbs
Squats: 175lbs.  Up 10lbs from last week.  Felt very good, sweating like a mofo due to the heat.
Bench: 125lbs.  No change.  This time around though 125 felt solid.  More on this below.
Overhead Press: 80 (85lbs max).  This one was a true deload, Hopefully next week will hit 90lbs.
Barbell Row: 100lbs (115lbs max).  Deloaded on this too, I felt the reps at 115 were shit!  Rather work on form.
Deadlift: 225lbs (240 max).  Had to lower weight on this too, 250 was just too intense.  Grip is very weak at this weight (250)

Today was my first time using chalk.  I was going barehand to help develop calluses and get that natural grip.  Holy shit chalk was fantastic.  My hold on the bar was very tight.  Noticeably on Rows, where later reps my grip would slip.  Can't wait to chalk up on deadlifts.

Also, I think I've posted previously that I have a pretty bum left shoulder.  So I've gone back to doing mobility work for shoulder and rotator cuff everyday.  I think it's paid off somewhat.  Unracking the weight during the bench, no longer hurts shoulders and doing 125lbs today was very clean reps.

Supplements Update

I used to have a huge stack of supplements on my desk.  Just taking a look from the progress page, it used to be:

Whey protein
Creatine
BCAAs
Omega 3 fish oil
Green tea extract
caffeine
multi-vitamin
*DMAA

Now, It's down to about half the size and honestly don't notice a difference.  Still currently using whey protein (of course), creatine, omega 3, caffeine (rarely though).  I did take Vitamin D for a while but since summer is here, won't do it any longer.

Update

Things are chugging along as they should. Integrated squats into the routine and it has for the most part gone well. Main issue is soreness the next day, my thighs are ridiculously sore. Walking is for the most part okay, up & down stairs is bad, trying to kneel down is not so bad since it is fairly quick.

Going back to working out the core as well, gonna be hitting it on mondays & fridays.
With the bulking, I just wanna hit everything that I can, so I can maximize muscle and minimize fat, so gotta do the little extras.

Running out of whey protein, not really sure what brand I should buy now. Pretty much price as been jacked up across the board and I need to wait until a sale happens. I did order some ON gold standard whey to hold me over until then though. Just wanted to see for myself what all the hype is about. Chocolate mint is the flavour I got.

Meh

Nothing really new to report yet again. Ez curl bar arrived today and good timing too because tomorrow is back/bicep. Just would like to see how much easier it is on the wrists versus a barbell (the one I used was ridiculous short like 2 feet, and it killed my wrists on preacher curls).

I also got some new gloves recently as well. Been using them for like 2 weeks and they kick ass. My old ones were like 7 years old grizzly crap and were too big cuz I thought I'd grow into them. These ones is super snug and grip is very good. Review on that shit coming too, lol.

Skipped legs on sunday, went snowboarding saturday.

Just looking back on the old posts, I started the dirty bulk on like Feb 2, today the 13rd, I did a weigh-in and I was upto around 142 in the morning. Gains!! It's too be expected though cuz I've been eating everything in sight. went from like 2000-2200 calories a day to like 2700-3500 calories a day. It is ridiculously hard to eat all this stuff. There been a few times I been so stuffed, I thought I'd be throwing up. Noticeable gains in fat are in the areas that I wanted to get rid of, the belly and the cheeks. Oh well, there's currently a new target for weight gain, and since with the dirty bulk, there's gonna be a significant increase in fat, so target is now roughly 180-185, then after I'll cut again to 170.

Also, I've started to cut out caffeine. I can for the most part start my day off without caffeine now. I started taking Melatonin to help me sleep, and it has helped my sleep. I'll still wake up during the middle of the night but it is less frequent and I do feel quite a bit more relaxed/refreshed when I wake up. Only side effect I notice is that I have these crazy dreams. Some really messed up shit but I won't go into it. Try it for yourself. Dose 3mg and that works well for me, when I up it to 6mg, feel a little too comfy in the morning, difficult to get out of bed. May be a good thing though cuz I could probably use more sleep.

Until next time. Some big things planned but I dunno if I'll ever take that step forward and see it through and execute it.

Bust out a work-out

Yesterday, I was looking forward to busting out a work-out tonight. I had made some progress on bicep/back day the past 2 weeks and chest last week was pretty solid as well. I wanted to get a good night's sleep since I hadn't been sleeping all that well. So I gave myself enough time to get nine and a half hours of sleep. Still no change I probably got around six hours of sleep maybe six and a half.

Wake up, and I'm more groggy than usual. Eat, pop some caffeine, get ready and should be good to go right? Wrong. Get on the streetcar (public transit) and I'm on the verge of falling asleep. Get to work, I feel disoriented, dazed, and tired. Start working a bit, but then it hits me...I don't feel good...

YAK a bit and go home. SICK. Pretty much been in bed the whole day but I couldn't sleep and I still feel tired as hell. No work-out tonight as I'm just too exhausted. This type of shit really annoys me cuz I've haven't really been motivated to exercise recently due to the loss in reps/weight and when I finally get back on track, ready to go hard, there's another barrier in the way. Let's hope I'm not out of commission for too now.

JUST TAKE A PRE-WORKOUT AND SUCK IT UP BITCH. Naw homie, all I got is DMAA right now. DMAA is just too random. Seriously though, I need to sleep and not take away any more sleep. A recent DMAA + caffeine trip, I couldn't fall asleep until like 6am, and I took that shit at 5pm for a work-out! Then another time, 2 hours after taking dmaa + caf, I fell asleep...

In other news...I got some casein protein in, which OF COURSE, i plan on doing a review on but a may be a little different in that it might be a video review. Also planning on hitting a gym sometime soon. Before, I went to the gym and this was kinda when I started out, and it was kinda overkill for me. Now that I'm more experienced it may be time to move on until I can afford some more equipment.

Haven't taken any pics lately as well, will most likely do one tomorrow. Doubt there will be much change anyways.

Animal Rage slaughter melon. Smells good, taste like shit but it works. Will try the orange one tomorrow, that is all.

AI Sports Nutrition RecoverPro

This product is a BCAA powder that mixes into a drink/water. RecoverPro is a no frills BCAA supp that contains pretty much just BCAAs, no additional stuff like electrolytes, glutamine, Citrulline Malate, vitamin bs and shit. It is isn't the standard 2:1:1 (Leucine, Isoleucine, Valine) but instead 4:1:1. I had two of the samples, lemon and some raspberry flavour. The lemonade flavour was very good, and raspberry was okay. I cannot comment on the effectiveness because I only had 2 shots, but from a price standpoint, it is very comptetive.

39.99 for a 1000g tub that contains 125 servings. Which for a person on a budget is fantastic. I myself chose not to go with this one this time around as I went with Dymatize Elite Recoup Lemonade (RecoverPro helped me to decide on this flavour) because the amino acids are sourced from Ajinomoto. If I don't like it though, I will most likely go with RecoverPro next. Trueprotein bcaa plus lemon-lime flavour is okay and it is just about the same price as RP, and I'd rather have something I'd enjoy as I normally do sip on this stuff on non-workout days.

Gains!

FINALLY!! Busted out a work-out tonight and had some gains! Whether is was to reps or weight, there were some gains. I am currently 3 weeks into creatine cycle though, so that may explain some of the gains.

One thing I believe that has halted some of my gains is my lack of sleep. Even though I allow my to have 8 hours of sleep, I really only get maybe 4-5 hours. The rest of the time is me laying in bed trying to get back to sleep. It sucks, and I've been having to rely on caffeine to keep me up during the day.

Currently on a modified schedule. Only hitting back/bicep & tri/chest/shoulders. Legs, I've cut out for now just due to a lot of standing around and snowboarding pretty much every weekend.

Bulking has pretty much been a failure so far. I've actually gone down to 135-136lbs, which is almost 20lbs from the starting weight...Honestly just have trouble eating the extra calories. If I do get the calories, it's normally not the best foods like candy, chips, cookies, brownies or some chocolate. My healthy snack, the bernnie's bars, I haven't touched in a long while just because the last batch i made, I used dextrose instead of sugar, and it taste awful. Also when I finish eating it, it makes me feel kinda sick. I'm gonna blame it on all the carbs. So I've decided that I'm gonna make some protein brownies instead.

Aside from all that, nothing new to report. I still will be writing up those reviews, I've tried more of the supp samples I've received. A while back as well, I received the body fat caliper thing, but the thing is so damn confusing to use, looking up how to use it, there are a bunch of formulas that people use to calculate body fat percentage...and honestly just don't know which one to use.

Rant:

Canadian supplement companies have to step up their game. Seriously, I want to keep Canadian dollars within Canada, but you are making it hard for me to do it. Recent order off of an american site $222.45 (CAD) shipped with duties paid, etc. Everything I've purchased, exact same items, now from a popular canadian site, $295.77 (I've subtracted 15% as they usually have their promos...). Now another site canadian site $295.83 (5% discount applied). Difference? $73...Sorry bros, I'd rather support our neighbours.

Still here.

Nothing new to really report. I've been trying the AI Sports Nutrition samples recently and one thing they have down is flavour. So far I've tried the Recover Pro lemon flavour (BCAAs) and it is very good. Also the pre-work out product Maniac pink lemonade and that taste good as well (compared to old Superpump 250 pink lemonade)

One thing that is very frustrating is that I haven't made any gains in a while, in fact I've had to decrease the weight. That has been very annoying, mostly because I don't know what's the cause for the decrease.

More to follow later. Been meaning to write some more things but have just gotten lazy.

Wah Wah Wah

I apologize for not posting. My body and mind has been pretty fried lately. Sunday, I went snowboarding and I was ridiculously tired after doing it for 7 hours. I skipped the workout sunday cuz family was over. Tuesday, same thing. Thursday, my body felt alright but I still felt tired, so I skipped the workout again. Basically took the week off. Tomorrow is snowboarding again.

One of my policies have always been to be consistent. Keep a strict workout schedule whether I am tired or not. I would always have to soldier through a workout even if it meant taking a stim late at night just to get through it and neglect sleep. One thing I've learned during the holidays is to listen to your body. Recently my left shoulder has been massively messed up (there was even some pain just carrying a backpack), I haven't been sleeping all that well, wake up atleast 2-3 times a night. With this rest, I actually relaxed and well rested. Overall, I just felt worn down and groggy. With this rest, shoulder felt better and just feel better. Before i needed to pop some caffeine to start my day and now caffeine isn't really needed. Morale of the story, just shut it down once in a while when your body tells you to. Now I just need to cut out the drinking again cuz I've been on that for the past 3 weeekends (this weekend included).

Fitness/supplement related: back on creatine.

60mg DMAA & 200mg caffeine gets you massively lifted. I was banging out the work outs like there was no tomorrow. Just kept on moving and couldn't stop.

Progress

Here is me 2 weeks ago. I been meaning to post it but just haven't gotten around to it. Consider it a Christmas present to y'all. Again no flex, no pump, all on an empty stomach just waking up. Raw, real, no photoshop pics.

Quick update: Nothing really new to report. Looks like amazon.ca is honouring the deal on the weights. Which is a good thing.

Respect goes out to AI Sports Nutrition and Universal Nutrition. I requested some samples from them not too long ago, and they arrived the other day. Good to see supps companies willing to ship samples to Canada (and previously Controlled Labs). You can request your own samples too. Universal sends Animal Rage and it can be done thru their website I believe. For AI Sports Nutrition, they send a whole range of products, you have to go thru the bodybuilding.com forums. Of course, reviews will follow.

That's about it. Updating the progress page as I go along with working out. Been meaning to write an article about Christmas and New Years (staying on track, new year's resolutions but I dunno if I'll get around to actually writing them).

Edit: Work-out today and again reps and weight are down. Been 3 weeks since off creatine, and I'm fairly certain that is the factor.

1,3-dimethylamylamine Initial Thoughts Review

1,3-dimethylamylamine came in, dosed about 30mg to assess tolerance...just waiting for it to kick in now to get my elliptical on. Report back later if I'm alive...

still here, mixed feelings on this stuff.

Saturday, December 10, 2011

Minor update on things I forgot about. Cycling off creatine, started last week. Calorie deficient diet is out the window. Eating whatever the fuck I wanna eat now!! Not really still gotta eat clean but just upping calorie intake to around 2750 to 3000 calories a day now, so bulking has started. Been slacking on cardio a bit, but now that I'm not doing full body work-outs anymore, I should be able to start up again and not worry about being to fatigued and whatnot. 45min on elliptical today, that is all.

The journey beings now...bring on the turkey mafuckers!

Picture

So here's the pic. When I woke up today after a meal. No flex, no pump. Don't ask where I'm looking I don't even know. As you can see, there's still a pocket of fat around stomach area. Fat loss is too random though, first it massively came off around my stomach, then started around the cheeks, and now I think it's onto my ass...but in due time...I believe I'll be doing pics every 2 weeks and sharing the better looking ones while keeping the frontal shots for video.

Purple Wraath Drink Mini-Review

Today, will be trying Purple Wraath from Controlled Labs again. Not too sure what it's marketed as but appears to be like a one-upper on the bcaa drinks out there (you know what u tell a story, and THAT GUY just has to his story to one up you!!). In this case from what a notice is Beta Alanine, and some EAA (there is some L-arginine). Let's give it a shot. Sample flavour is "purple lemonade" mixed in 250mL of water. Took a sip and it is thick...I usually like to dilute these supp drinks though, makes it go down better (I even do this with juice). Adding another 250mL. Flavour wise, I dunno what is taste like but it's acceptable, better than xtend, again i find most supp flavours to be shit but as long as it's tolerable, and doesn't make u gag or throw-up.

Few hours have past, not much to report. Just had some tingling and that's about it. signing out
