Here is my write up for Muramasa, excuse the shittyness. It will be broken down into 3 parts, initial, during, and post impressions. Please be reminded, this is just a quick summary, put it off long enough just want to get it done.
Initial thoughts of the having seen videos of gameplay and reviews was positive. Graphics and style of the game looked very nice for 2D side-scroller, but what stood out was the combos the characters would do, very flashy and jaw dropping. It pretty much gave u a sense of DAAAAMMMN. The game was released in North America on September 8, 2009, while I got it and finished it sometime in January 2011 I think. While I thought it was a good game, it wasn't worth releasse price (when it was released).
While playing the game, I thought again, the game was very good. I try not to go into too much detail but. Game has 3 modes, Muso, Shura, Shigurui. I would sum it up as, easy, medium, hardcore respectively. Hardcore not hard because you only get 1HP, so u get hit, u dead. Personally, I have not played the mode myself. This is a story driven game for the most part, and is a hack/slash game. Fight Mob A, advance, fight until Mob Z and advance to Boss A. Boss battles are insane and really the meat and potatoes of the game, the story gives you the push to trudge along until the next boss as u encounter mob after mob after mob. The system was very good, you have 3 swords each with their own "health bars' which deplete as you defend/parry attacks. Once the bar is gone, the character takes damage, but the mechanic is to switch between swords so a sword is never broken <-- this is the fundamental thing for me to consider the game highly, really helped to improve the hack and slash gameplay tremendously. Since I am an animefag, I had to mention this. This game has the japanese voice acting, it was very good. When I heard one of the main character's voice (Momohime), instant thought in my head was, I heard that shit before. Google that shit up, lo and behold, it's Celty from Durarara!! Wow surprisingly she was the main character of another anime i watched long ago, Rozen Maiden, went back and took a peek, yep it was her. Have more write, but I'd just be rambling, and this is informal review. I don't want to nitpick everything and spend 2-3 hours on it to write and then another few hours to revise and perfect.
Post thoughts. This game is very solid and entertaining. It does get very tedious at times because you'll encounter what seems like endless mobs when you just want to get to the boss battles. It is the only "flaw" I can really point out because it brings out the one dimensional gameplay, other than that it is very well rounded. The game is only available on the Nintendo Wii and can be bought for roughly $20 (canadian) through amazon or videogamesplus. For that price it is definitely worth picking up. I spent around 25 hours playing, so less than $1 per hour for entertainment and in my opinion excellent, also better than a movie.
There you have it, just one go through. Enjoy, next up should be Mass Effect, but this game is annoying at times, and may possibly be very long.
Now as always, time for music!! Side now, probably said this in the january post, that I was quitting smoking. Still going strong cold turkey, been like 18 days, now how it related to music. I been having crazy dreams recently due to this, and yesterday/today I dreamed of an original song, yes ORIGINAL, now I actually remembered it cuz i was in a state of like half asleep but then I actually thought about doing something about it, I had no fuckin' clue how to compose/produce a song...my chance at stardom ruined.
hardstyle and some dubstep
